Nestled in the Nasserein area of St Anton, a short ski from the Rodel Hutte restaurant which catches the sun for longer than any other mountain restaurant, Chalets Hochkar and Gamskar are ideally positioned. After your après-ski tipple all you need to do is click into your skis and head down a short piste, or, if your mulled wine has fortified you enough, brave the St Anton Rodelbahn (toboggan run) which ends 300 metres from your chalet door.

The hamlet of Nasserein has a lot going for it – its own bubble lift straight up to Gampen at 1850m, a major ski school meeting place and a choice of local bars and restaurants including Tom Dooley’s, all just 10 minutes’ walk from downtown St Anton. If you’d rather start your skiing from the Galzigbahn, you can still put your skis on at the chalet door and hop on one drag lift which will take you high enough to ski over to St Anton’s far side.

Chalets Hochkar and Gamskar are identical twins and share the same modern stone and timber building. Chalet Gamskar occupies all of the first floor, Hochkar the second floor, and both have been thoughtfully and luxuriously re-appointed over recent years.

In many respects they are the perfect modern chalet, with exceptionally spacious lounges and dining rooms and generous bedrooms with superb furnishings and fittings. Sleeping up to 11 in 5 bedrooms, both are perfect for big groups or families sharing. Four of the five rooms have en suite shower rooms and one has a bath instead. If the views to St Anton from the large living/dining areas aren’t enough, the flatscreen TV, DVD player and BOSE iPod docking station are always there for the kids or a cosy night in.

Each morning starts with tea in bed, a cooked breakfast and sinking your feet into warm ski boots fresh from the heated rack in the shared boot room. Alternatively, guests can choose to leave ski equipment at the Nasserein lift – if a pub crawl home from the piste is more your thing. Ski lifts are easily reached from the chalet along a short path, and there is always the 4x4 on hand to take guests to the lift of your choice if the short walk feels too much.

Catering

There will be a Champagne reception on the first night of your holiday.

Breakfast can be as hearty or as light as you wish. There is fruit juice, yoghurt, cereals, porridge and preserves with croissants or local speciality bread. A hot breakfast is also cooked on request until 9am (6 days).

Then there’s the treat of afternoon tea - with homemade cakes, biscuits or a savoury delight and plenty of fresh bread and preserves laid out for you on your return from the slopes. High tea can be provided for children after 6 pm if required.

Dinner, the highlight of the evening, starts with pre-dinner drinks and canapes in the lounge, before an excellent three course meal. Wine accompanies the meal (a choice of 3 reds and 3 whites) and a selection of local cheeses will also be available, served with port. Tea and/or coffee and mints follow.

The chalet staff will have one day off during the week for you to enjoy the delights of the local restaurants. On this day you will be able to help yourself to a buffet style continental breakfast.

Rooms will be made ready in the evening whilst you are at dinner. The bed will be made ready, the bedside lights will be switched on and water will be placed next to your bed.

The hosts will cater for all individual requirements, including vegetarians, special diets and allergies - just let us know before you travel.
