Lech

Lech am Arlberg is best known for its skiing and in recent years has grown to become one of the world’s premier ski destinations. It is also home to a number of world and Olympics ski champions. Lech is well connected with its neighbouring villages of Zürs, St Christoph, St Anton and Stuben which together form the Arlberg region. The villages themselves are easy to get around and only 4km apart, linked by a regular bus service.
Lech has a worldwide reputation and the regular visitors to this glamorous and expensive resort tend to be rich, famous and/or royalty. However the resort has remained refreshingly unpretentious, probably because they are so used to such guests. There is a touch-free electronic "Arlberg-Skicard" which is valid in the resorts of Zürs, Stuben, St. Anton, St. Christoph and Lech which means you don’t have to get your lift pass out when you get to a ski lift.
The resort is a good size with a majority of intermediate slopes and a good variety of on and off piste skiing. There are 260km of well-tended pistes and 180 km of open slopes which are between 1450 and 2800 metres altitude. There are 84 cable cars, chairlifts and draglifts which travel between the Rüfikopf, Madlock, Kriegerhorn and Mohnenfluh, taking guests to the most beautiful slopes.
For snowboarders there is a fun park and a half pipe, there is also 26 km of cross country tracks, 15 km of winter hiking trails, a toboggan run which can be used at night because it is lit by floodlights and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Restaurants, open-air snow bars, indoor bars and dancing provide entertainment after the day on the slopes as well as a lively après-ski scene.
Lech is two hours from Innsbruck Airport and two and a half hours from Zurich Airport.
